Computer programming may seem far too advanced for kids, but that's where the Code Mobile comes in.
INGERSOLL - The computer lab on wheels - better known as The Code Mobile - will be rolling into Ingersoll.
It's an initiative by Canada's Learning Code aimed at inspiring youth to become interested in technology and computer coding.
Meagan Berry, Teen and Outreach Librarian with Oxford County Library, says it is a great opportunity.
"The Code Mobile travels across Canada, stopping at schools, libraries, community centres; they really try to target communities in areas that wouldn't necessarily have a lot of access to coding and computer programming resources."
It may seem like a difficult task to get kids interested in something that seems so advanced, but Berry says kids are always engaged.
"They come out and do workshops with kids and teach them the basics of how to start coding or creating their own projects."
Kids don't need any coding experience to participate in this one day event, just an open mind and some enthusiasm.
The program starts at 1 p.m. and will run for the afternoon, with limited space available.
Families with kids ages 9-12 are encouraged to register in advance for the free event. For more information, contact the library at 519-485-2505, or online here.
