City of Woodstock Gets Funding for Housing

The City of Woodstock has gone above and beyond the housing targets last year, meaning funding is being received.

WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock will see money from the Building Faster Fund.

In 2023 the City exceeded the annual housing target, and as a result, they will get close to 2 million dollars. The funding will help address the housing crisis by supporting the development of new housing options. The 2023 housing target for Woodstock was 403 units, and through ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the revised number of actual housing starts recorded in 2023 was 475.

Mayor, Jerry Acchione says, “This is incredible news for our community. We know people everywhere are struggling and this significant investment in Woodstock will help us remove some of the barriers locally to ensure residents have safe, affordable housing that meets their family’s needs.”

In December of last year, the City put forward a housing pledge, which outlined the commitment to working with the province, and stakeholders to look at the housing crisis and make sure there are opportunities for safe, affordable, and appropriate housing for the residents of Woodstock.
