Woodstock City Council have handed out the 2015 City Beautiful Awards
WOODSTOCK - A number of businesses are being honoured by the City of Woodstock for helping to keep the area beautiful.
City Council handed out their 2015 City Beautiful awards last week. Some of this years winners include Vuteq Canada, The Guarantee Company of North America, Canadian Mental Health Association of Oxford and Old St Paul's Church was given the award for excellence.
Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM it was very difficult to select a winner.
"A few instances where we had so many great entrants that were evaluated by the committee that we actually gave out more awards then we had originally planned."
Awards were handed out in a number of categories for industrial, commercial, institutional businesses, residential properties and a general award for excellence. Birtch tells Heart FM why the wanted to hand out these awards.
"This is to recognize the hard work of individuals in order to beautify our community, it's something that helps lift up the spirits of all of our neighbours and also provides a more welcoming atmosphere for visitors and tourists to the area."
