Participants will be shown every part of Woodstock Police Dept. during the Citizen's Police Academy program.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Department is now accepting applications for their nine week Citizen's Police Academy.
Woodstock Police Staff Sergeant Neil Butler says participants will be shown every part of their organization.
Based on the size of their department, they can only accept 12-14 people. "We are looking for somebody who does not have a criminal record and has a general interest in knowing what the police department in Woodstock is all about," says Butler. "We get a lot of people applying that are considering policing as a career. We will take those no problem at all. We will not take somebody who is in Police Foundations because we're really not going to show them anything they don't already know."
Butler says after the program is done the participants will have no affiliation with the Police Department but he hopes they will become unofficial ambassadors for the service.
Application forms can be found on the Woodstock Police Website. "What we are asking from you is you complete the application and then provide a cover letter explaining why you're interested in participating in the program and if you feel it's worth it, a brief resume is something we would be interested in. We then go through those applications and we bring them in for a brief 15-20 minute interview just to get a feel on what the candidate is all about and from there it's a phone call with a 'yes' and a start date."
A link to the application can be found here.
