Every Township will have a depot for those to drop off their Christmas tree
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County is once again making it easy to dispose of your Christmas Trees.
While those living in Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, and Woodstock may use other methods, those living in all the Townships will have a depot to take advantage of. Waste Management Coordinator, Pam Antonio, explains how easy it is to get rid of your tree. "We have a number of leaf and yard waste depots located throughout the county, actually we have a depot in each municipality. Residents just need to take their Christmas trees there put them into the brush pile and then we will take care of it where it then is put into our composter for composting."
With the holidays coming to an end many will be wanting their Christmas tree out of their homes, and Antonio is attempting to make it a simple experience. "Anyone living in the Townships will need to take it physically to a leaf and yard waste depot, and then anyone living in the Town of Ingersoll, Town of Tillsonburg, and the City of Woodstock should check their municipal web site to see whether or not there is any curbside collection occurring for Christmas trees."
Antonio knows this has been a useful service in the past and talks about why the numbers of trees received are dropping. "We do see Christmas trees but not to the volume that I would normally expect, I think people are starting to gravitate away from using actual Christmas trees." Over the last several years Woodstock has enjoyed curbside Christmas tree cleanup, and the depot system has seemed to work well in the county according to Antonio.
