Operation Sharing opens doors to the children's shopping day
Operation Sharing is once again giving children in need the opportunity to shop for gifts to give their parents this holiday season.
Saturday is the Children's shopping day at the Christmas place where children are able to pick out free gifts for their parents and have them wrapped on site.
Operation Sharing Program Director Steve Giuliano says between Wednesday and Thursday they helped approximately 275 parents with gifts for their children.
"That certainly is a fair number of people but the atmosphere was fantastic and the people have contacted us to thank us about how touched they were and how appreciative they were to be able to support their families at Christmas."
Giuliano says there are lots of volunteers ready to help support the children as they shop.
"There are elves there and volunteers that take the children around shopping. Their gifts are wrapped while their parents are in another room so they don't get to see what they are going to get from their children on Christmas day. If it's on par with past year it will be around 250-300 will be served."
The shopping happens this morning from 9-12 at College Avenue United Church.
