The Woodstock Salvation Army would like to raise $60,000 this holiday season.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Salvation Army is launching it's Christmas Kettle Campaign today.
Volunteers will be on site at the Heart FM studio collecting donations from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. this morning. Major Kristen Adams says you'll also be able to find the kettles in other locations throughout the Friendly City.
"Our kettles will be out at most of the grocery stores including Sobeys, No Frills, Walmart, Zehrs and the LCBO."
She adds they're hoping to raise $60,000 before Christmas, so you will have lots of opportunities to donate.
"The kettles will be in the stores until December 24th. They will be in every weekend starting this weekend with Thursday, Friday and Saturday. As we get closer to Christmas, we will add a few more days and be out all week the last two weeks."
Volunteers are also needed to man the kettles, and Adams says it's easy to sign up for a shift.
"You just visit our website at woodstocksalvationarmy.ca and look for the link to Kettle Volunteers. You can sign up online to get into our portal, it gives you some brief training before showing you what kettles shifts are all available and what kettles are all about."
You can also call the Woodstock Salvation Army at 519-539-9345 to schedule a shift.
Adams says the Salvation Army relies on the funds from the Christmas Kettle Campaign every year.
"The money that we raise at the kettle during the Christmas season, fund the programming that we provide for our community all year round."
This includes the Hope Market which provides food to people in need.
