Funds raised through the Angel Tree will benefit Operation Sharing's Christmas Place this year.
OXFORD COUNTY - Operation Sharing has joined forces with Children's Aid Society of Oxford and the Power of Hope this holiday season.
Giselle Lutfallah, Program Manager for Community Support Services at Children's Aid says they will be sending all of the funds they raise through their Angel Tree Campaign to Operation Sharing's Christmas Place.
"We recognize that some families are living in poverty and aren't involved with child welfare services but might still need a handout this holiday season."
Cathy Gilverson says the Christmas Place acts as a highly discounted gift store for families in need.
"It gives people the opportunity to come and shop at greatly reduced prices. For instance a $1 gift is actually worth $10, a $2 gift is worth $20 that kind of thing. They come and make the choices themselves and for their children rather than somebody giving them something."
The Power of Hope will send some pyjama packs over to the Christmas Place located inside College Ave United Church. Families in need can sign up to take advantage of the discounts offered at the Christmas Place. They have started to accept toy and gift donations. Charitable tax receipts will be issued upon request.
