The amount donated to Wellkin was $3100.
WOODSTOCK - The Mortgage Centre Hometown Financial has presented a cheque to Wellkin Child & Youth Mental Wellness.
Principal Mortgage Broker Julie Brenneman said that Wellkin was chosen this year due to the need for their services, and the fact that every penny is used on helping the community.
"Every year we chose local charities to donate money to whenever we close a mortgage file. This year we chose Wellkin and we have presented a cheque today based on the mortgages that we closed this year."
The cheque for $3100 was received by Wellkin Executive Director Kelly Baker. She was both thrilled and appreciative for the donation from Brenneman and the Mortgage Centre.
"Child and youth mental health has been a tough one over the last few years with COVID. We've had more referrals than ever. This money will go to provide programs to kids that need it... This donation is huge."
Wellkin is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on donations and ministry funding. They have programs dedicated to autism support, school support, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, coping skills etc. and they are tailored for children aged 0-18 or family groups.
They also are the lead agency for a new Brightside Youth Hub at the Canadian Mental Health Association Thames Valley building at 522 Peel Street in Woodstock. Drop-in services and scheduled activities from 2-5 p.m. every Wednesday afternoon. They offer resume support, gender identity counselling, family health, transitional housing support and more.
