Gunn's Hill Artisan Cheese product Five Brothers cheese is a finalist in the Canadian Cheese Awards.
Some Oxford County-made cheese is up for a Canadian Cheese award.
Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese is a finalist in the firm cheese category with thier Five Brothers cheese.
Operator Shep Ysselstein said his product faces increased competition this year.
"They have, I think, about 300 cheeses that have been entered [into the competition] this year. Whereas last year's contest had about 220," Ysselstein said.
"The organizers are super happy to have a large amount of cheese that got entered into the contest," he said.
Ysselstein describes Five Brothers as "the kind of cheese that anybody can like."
"It's not too intense in flavour so that people that shy away from really strong-flavoured cheeses, they can still enjoy it. But people that do enjoy more flavourful cheeses, they can enjoy it too because of its subtle, unique falvours," Ysselstein said.
"I think also the texture plays a big part, it's got this smooth, creamy texture that a lot of people gravitate towards."
Ysselstein said all the dairy milk used in Gunn's Hill cheese is locally-sourced.
The winners will be announced on April 7 at a gala held at the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto.
