A free program through Community Employment Services can help young people land that first job.
Young people in Oxford County can dive into first time employment with help from Community Employment Services.
Young people between 15 and 29 who have never been on a payroll before can sign up for Youth Job Link. Communications Assistant Liz Wismer-Van Meer encourages anyone who is having trouble getting that first job to come in and talk to the folks at CES.
"They're going to sit down and give you an assessment to see what qualifications you have, what skills you have, and start to point you in the right direction of where you can start looking for careers."
Along with helping with things like resumes and cover letters, Youth Job Link can also help with the financial complications that may arise through a $300 boost according to Wismer-Van Meer.
"So that could mean you are going to use that $300 for safety boots, maybe you have to buy a uniform, maybe you have to buy clothes if you're getting a job as a hostess, a waitress or waiter."
This is a free program. Anyone interested can stop by CES and get started.
