A little piece of Scotland is coming to Embro for the 80th Embro Highland Games.
EMBRO - The sound of bagpipes will drift over Embro for the 80th anniversary of the Embro Highland Games.
The celebration of Scottish culture has become a Canada Day tradition for many people. Naturally, Diane Normand is looking forward to the return of some crowd favourites.
"Well we always have the heavy events at the Highland Games, everything from tossing the caber to throwing the hammer, tug of war demonstrations, the sheep herding demonstration is one of my favourites for sure."
Alan Normand says people are swept up in the spectacle and festivity of it all.
"It's quite a carnival atmosphere and it's certainly helped by the fact that the event is licensed - the entire grounds are licensed which is a first for us. And we do have some live Celtic music - Celtic and Canadian folk music."
Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for youth between 13 - 18, and children 12 and under are free. Free parking is available on the grounds.
It's happening on July 1st starting at 8 a.m.
Heart FM will be on location - look for the Cruiser and GM Brian Langston.
