Bullwinkles Eatery has been filling bellies, connecting the community, and teaching life skills for a year now.
WOODSTOCK - Bullwinkles Eatery is ready to celebrate its one year anniversary.
The restaurant located inside the Moose Family Centre has been a huge success throughout the year, serving at least 50 people every Tuesday and Thursday. It operates on a pay what you can basis to cater to all incomes. You can pay the minimum donation of $1 or the maximum donation of $7 to enjoy a hot meal served by volunteers.
Trainer Vanessa Giuliano has watched friendships form at the eatery.
"We've noticed that there have been some of our regulars that come in that are maybe taking pride in themselves a little more, looking nicer and inviting people to sit at the table with them that they normally may not have eaten with them before because they may not have been in that kind of environment with them before."
Giuliano adds Bullwinkles has also helped five volunteers find gainful employment afterwards as well as instilling confidence in all volunteers.
"We teach not only cooking and serving, we teach life skills - we teach employment skills."
All of the previous volunteers have been invited back to the eatery to celebrate the occasion on Thursday March 2nd. A special cake will be served during the lunch hour, which will kick off at 11:45 a.m. and wrap up at 1:30 p.m.
