Carmeuse Lime & Stone in Beachville say they will continue operations despite a strike that began at 12:01 a.m. this morning.
UPDATE: BEACHVILLE- Carmeuse Lime & Stone workers in Beachville were unable to reach an agreement with the company regarding benefits, pensions and wages. As of 12:01 a.m. workers from Unifor Local 3264 took strike action and will be picketing along with members from Unifor Local 88. In a release Carmeuse Lime & Stone stated they intend to continue operations in Beachville with the use of salaried workers and hope the duration of the strike is short.
The membership of Unifor Local 3264 will be holding an information meeting at the local Union Hall this Sunday from 2 to 4 for their membership.Local 88 was approached by Local 3264 to staff the picket line while their members meet.
Carmeuse Lime & Stone and Local 3264 were unavailable for comment.
