The municipal elections are fast approaching for Ingersoll.
INGERSOLL - The race is on for a seat in the Ingersoll City Council, and one candidate says she has a plan.
Maria Sikal has lived in Ingersoll for over 10 years now, and has over 25 years of experience in project management, workforce strategy, talent acquisition and business development. Sikal says she has heard a common theme while campaigning this year.
"I think that one of the key thing that I'm hearing is that it seems there's always the same people involved in Ingersoll from a political perspective, and I'm getting the sense from speaking to people that they're not always making decisions based on the benefit of the people. There seems to be other benefits that affect the decisions of people as well."
Sikal also thinks the town needs a new high school.
"Kids need to excited about learning again! And kids should not be having to bus out of our community because they don't want to go to the high school that's there. So we definitely need a new high school, with the ability of having state-of-the-art technology, whether it's vocational technology, whether it be application software technology that would get kids excited about career planning their future."
Sikal has also addressed the more pressing issues in the community, such as the landfill site.
