Team Canada has won the silver medal at the IIHF Women's World Championship in Brampton after suffering a 6-3 loss to the United States yesterday.
BRAMPTON - Ella Shelton will be bringing a silver medal home to Oxford County.
The Canadian women's hockey team suffered a 6-3 loss to the United States in the gold medal final of the IIHF Women's World Championship in Brampton yesterday. The U.S. scored two power-play goals with less than four minutes left in the third period.
Brianne Jenner scored twice for Team Canada and Marie-Philip Poulin had a goal and an assist. Sarah Fillier was named the MVP of the tournament after she scored a hat trick during Canada's 5-1 win over Switzerland in the semifinals on Saturday.
Shelton finished the tournament with one assist. She helped Laura Stacey score a goal in the third period of Canada's matchup against Czechia on Friday April 7th.
