SureStart Business Challenge Camp sold-out of products at Ingersoll Kiwanis Market
INGERSOLL- The SureStart youth entreprenur business camp is off to a profitable start.
The first week of camp sold out of many products that were created by the youth between the ages of 12 and 14 years of age.
SureStart program staff Bailey Scott says the first session was a success. "The first week of summer camp went amazing. We had 10 youth between the ages of 12 to 14 who participated in the Business Idea Challenge Camp and they all came up with great, creative ideas a
The youth were trained in marketing of their products and created a business plan which was then pitched to a panel of judges who awarded the winner with an iTunes gift certificate. The winner of the presentation was an entrepreneur who created bowls out of unwanted vinyl records.
However it was the duct-taped wallet product that was most popular at the Ingersoll Kiwanis market.
One team added a social twist to their marketing campaign- partnering with the Heart and Stroke Foundation to donate 1 dollar of each tie-dyed headband and bandana sold.
Another session of the popular Surestart business challenge camp will be offered again August 11th to 16th. Bailey
Scott staff advises those interested to register early as there are only 15 spots available. There is a $40 registration fee to participate however subsidies are available.
