Zorra Township will be taking a first look at their draft capital and operating budgets on Wednesday.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Zorra Township will be taking a first look at their draft capital and operating budgets tomorrow.
Right now the draft Operating Budget is sitting at just over $1 million dollars and the 5 year Capital Budget Plan is calling for $33.8 million dollars. Mayor Marcus Ryan says they have a couple of big ticket items to look at.
"A few large capital items in the budget, we have some potential work to the Embro Fire Station and the potential for a new Zorra Public Works yard and if that were to go ahead it would be the single largest expenditure in the history of the Township."
Ryan says he is expecting a lot of questions and debate at council about some of these items to figure out the best way to proceed.
"I think council is going to want to take a look at some of these items to see if they are really needed at the scale they are at, if they are really needed in a 2019 budget, as opposed to another budget. There is going to be some work for council to do on this budget to make sure we get it right."
Ryan says tomorrow's meeting is the first of many on the budget and the numbers are subject to change. You can take a look at the budget online here.
