Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch addressed the crowd at his annual Breakfast with the Mayor in Woodstock this morning.
WOODSTOCK - Being a good ambassador for Woodstock and promoting the City everywhere you go was the key message at the annual Mayor's Breakfast today.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says he wants everyone to join him in promoting the City.
"Every individual in the community, especially those present in the Chamber of Commerce are ambassadors for our community. When they talk to friends and contacts in other communities and they talk about the quality of life here in Woodstock and the ease of use for expansion of business and we find our way through the red tape, to make sure that we can get shovels in the ground quickly."
Birtch also touched on some of the new growth happening in the City.
"I talked about some of the new jobs, the new growth in the City, the new industry, where those piles of dirt are, at Pattullo Ave, the land close the 401, in the Commerce Way Business Park, the Bysham Business Park and of course the servicing that council has committed to for the lands that have come in that are to our east near the 401 and 403, that were formerly part of Norwich and we are working hard to get that done."
He also talked about the need for more affordable housing.
"The need for improved access to affordable housing, we talked about the new apartment buildings that people will see over the coming years being built here in the Friendly City. This will provide an opportunity for many of our seniors that our currently in their homes and looking to downsize for the rest of their retirement. They will have nice new apartments to move into and those houses that they will be putting for sale on the market will provide a great entry point for people in the community to start a family and to grow and prosper in our community."
The Mayor's breakfast was hosted by the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and was held at the Quality Hotel and Suites.
