Youth and Children are the focus of this year's Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme this year is all about "Bouncing Back". Executive Director of the Woodstock and Area Community Health Centre and Student Support Leadership Initiative member, Cate Melito says promoting wellness and mental health is within the reach of everyone. "We can involve children and youth in strategies and ways that they can help themselves bounce back, in ways that they can be resilient, can promote their own mental health. Really that can lead to hopefully a lifetime of a stronger ability to deal with stresses and strains that come with life." A number of items are planned for local children this week including a series of short videos as well as a special bracelet that will be handed out to children on Wednesday. Melito says the Student Support Leadership Initiative have been working with the dance group Dynamic Dozen to create the series of five videos on bouncing back from mental health. A new video will be released each day; to view the video click here.
