His publicist says he died at home this morning
Former "The Price is Right" host Bob Barker has died at the age of 99.
According to a statement from his publicist, Roger Neal, he died this morning of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us," Neal said in a statement.
“I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker, and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally," his girlfriend Nancy Burnet said in her own statement. "We were great friends over these 40 yrs. He will be missed.”
Barker began his television career in 1956 as host of the show "Truth or Consequences."
In 1972, he began hosting "The Price is Right", which became the longest running game show in U.S. history.
He retired from the show in 2007, after hosting over 6,500 episodes.
His fame also helped him land some roles on the big screen, including a cameo in the movie "Happy Gilmore."
Barker is also remembered for his work as an animal advocate, reminding audiences at the end of each show to "have your pets spayed or neutered."
