If you live on Oxford Road 17 or on Oxford County 11th Line, in the area of the water main extension projects, you can expect bills in the mail now that the projects are complete.
OXFORD COUNTY - Following the completion of a few water main extension projects, Oxford County staff will be billing property owners.
Council approved funding for two water main extension projects in Woodstock that were finished last year.
Warden Larry Martin says staff can now collect money.
"The projects are done and that's just giving staff the authority to go ahead and collect on that. They're done and the pipes are in the ground and it's just a matter they have to a resolute of council to go forward and bill."
The water services were on Oxford Road 17 and on Oxford County 11th Line. The total cost for the project on Oxford Road 17 was $847,385.
Warden Martin says water is now accessible for those residents.
"It will be basically provide them public water, rather than their own private water wells they'll be hooked up to the water towers in Woodstock and it'll be piped out to them so they'll have communal water. My understand is that any urban area must be on full water and sewers."
The projects will provide water services to properties that are not on municipal services and address servicing needs for new development lands.
The individual properties that benefit from this project will be required to pay connection fees, according to the 2019 Fees and Charges schedule. A connection to existing water main or service within communities with development charges, up to 25 millimetres, will be $3,500, a new meter less than 25 millimetres without radio transmitter is $145 and a radio transmitter for water/wastewater readings is $115.
Property owners will have the option of either paying a lump sum without interest or through a debenture that will be collected with their taxes.
