Big Brothers Big Sisters Needs More Mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tillsonburg, Ingersoll and area is in need of more mentors for their program.

TILLSONBURG - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tillsonburg, Ingersoll and area are looking for a few good men and woman to join their organization. 

Right now they have about 50 kids in the region who are waiting to be paired up with a mentor. Resource Coordinator Heather Breckleman says it can be a real rewarding experience. 

"It is should of immeasurable, we were just talking about the fact that it's need to be something that you can measure more so you can show people what it can do. For some kids it's just feeling more confident and a sense that someone other than their parents care for them, it can also help with their self esteem and these types of things trickle down to feeling more successful and doing better in school, or having more confidence with their friends, or having good friends or more friends than they had previously".

Breckleman says right now they about 200 kids who taking part in the program and they always need more big's to serve as a mentor or volunteer for some of their in school programs. 

"In the in school programs, we don't have a wait list, we simply contact them when we have volunteers so there is always kids wanting to be matched, so we have always have kids asking for a volunteer and we're like that's great as soon as we have a volunteer we will give you a call".
