A teenage girl from Embro is getting ready to shadow an MP in Ottawa.
OXFORD COUNTY - An Embro teenager will get to witness politics in Ottawa first hand, when they participate in the 4th annual Youth in Office program.
16 year old Brittanie Fraser will get to shadow an MP from November 5th until the 8th. She will visit the MP's office, attend a Question Period and listen to the parties debate in the House of Commons.
Fraser had to apply to participate in the program a while back.
"You were asked questions about if you got to talk to the Prime Minister what two things would you tell him."
Fraser has one positive thing and a negative thing she would like to say to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
She tells Heart FM about the positive.
"It's good that he is bringing more youth into politics and stuff like that."
Fraser adds she thinks Trudeau should offer more support for Canada's agricultural communities.
Fraser is one of the 50 youth selected from Big Brothers Big Sisters and other Boys and Girls Club agencies for the program. In a press release Kristen Ralph, the Interim Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District says she is glad Fraser has been given this opportunity.
"Big Brothers Big Sisters is about giving opportunities to children and youth, and this is such an amazing one for Brittanie. We are so proud and excited
that she gets to have this once in a lifetime experience."
