BEACHVILLE - An employee with the Beachville District Museum has been honoured by the Ontario Historical Society.
Assistant Curator Sidney Williams was presented with the Dorthy Duncan Leadership in Heritage Award over the weekend. She is being recognized for her exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to public history education and community heritage programming.
Williams has been able to transform the way Oxford County experiences the history. She has created highly engaging programs rooted in the cultural traditions, agricultural heritage, and industrial history of Oxford County. Some of the programs that have been created include; baseball-making, Victorian quilting, and butter-churning experiences.
Theses events offer each resident of Oxford County the immersive, intergenerational learning opportunities that make history personal, tangible, and meaningful. These programs have garnered regional and national attention, strengthening heritage tourism and showcasing the power of small museums to deliver innovative, high-impact experiences.
