Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock has advanced as a finalist for Win for Kids.
WOODSTOCK - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock are finalist in a nation-wide contest.
The Goodlife Kids Foundation's, Win 4 Kids is dishing out $100,000 in cash prizes to programs across Canada that help kids have a healthier future.
James Rijneveld, Group and Program Volunteer Coordinator says their Go Girls! and Game On! programs are finalist in the contest.
According to Amber Moreau, School Base Mentoring Coordinator, the winnings would be used to maintain these programs as well as grow and reach further into the community. "We offer this program to all schools in our service area. Some of the places that we offer the programs are elementary schools in Woodstock, we go to Norwich, Burgesville, Curries, Eastwood, Embro, Princeton, Drumbo, Bright, Tavistock, Plattsville so all over the place. We've been offering them in rural communities also which is kind of a nice change for our agency."
Moreau highlights their Go Girls! and Game On! programs note only encourage a healthier future for the kids, they help the youth deal with challenge of growing up and fitting in.
There is one $25,000 national prize for the organization with the highest number of votes along with three prizes of $12,000, three prizes of $8,000 and three prizes of $5,000. The winners will be announced during the Spin4Kids Plus event March 7th. Voting is open until March 6th.
