Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County is looking for people to join their in-school mentorship program.
OXFORD COUNTY - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County are putting out a call.
Executive Director, Kristen Ralph and Manager of Communications, Liz Wismer-Van Meer were on the Heart FM morning show today to discuss their needs. Ralph says what exactly they are looking for.
"We are looking for volunteers in our school-based mentoring programs. So, that is both in-school mentoring, where you are working one-on-one with a youth, and our group programs, which is only a 7 to 10-week commitment and you are paired with another facilitator."
Ralph adds their programs are made possible by the wonderful volunteers, and they come from across the County.
"Sometimes the wonderful employers across Oxford County allow their staff to go and volunteer for an hour and hang out with a kid. So, it is a really neat program and it does make a difference and impact the lives of kids."
If you are interested in becoming an in-school mentor, there is a no-commitment information session happening next month. On August 7th the next BIGS 101 session takes place at the BBBS office starting a 6 p.m.
You can visit the BBBS website for all the information on how to register.
