For the second time in three years the Woodstock Navy Vets Bantam rep team has won the International Silver Stick Championship.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Bantam Rep Navy Vets continued their dominance of the 2016 International Silver Stick Tournament. They won the gold this weekend in Port Huron Michigan beating Traverse City 5-1 in the finals.
This is the second silver stick tournament win in three years and the one year they didn't win they lost in the finals. The team is going to be honoured by the Junior C Navy Vets on Friday night and Head Coach Peter Haloulos tells Heart FM he thinks some of the boys may get a glimpse of their future watching the big club play.
"It wouldn't surprise me to see these guy play at the next level, we have some really talented players and some of them have their sights set on the next step, so it wouldn't surprise me and I think the organization there knows the quality of players we have and they have had a lot of experience with these players."
A lot of the players on the Bantam rep team have been playing together for a couple of years now and the team has had a great run of success over the past couple of years. In the last 4 years they've won ALL of their regional qualifiers, which were for the 2013 Minor Pee Wee "A", 2014 Pee Wee "A", 2015 Minor Bantam "A" and now the 2016 Bantam "A" International Silver Stick Championship Tournaments.
