Boys U14 and Girls U12 have successful outcome at weekend tournaments
The Oxford Attack Under 14 Major Bantam Boys basketball team hit the court in Ancaster over the weekend.
The boys had an impressive 3-and-1 record, picking up the consolation prize in the sanctioned tournament.
The Attack finished first in pool play with a comfortable 57 - 37 victory over BC Troyka but met their nemesis Ancaster Magic in the semi-finals and were outmatched 57 – 34.
The Attack faced BC Troyka again in the consolation and won easily 54 – 33.
Next up for the Attack U14 boys in a 2-game friendly exhibition tourney in Chatham next Sunday.
The Attack Under 13 Major Atom Girls finished with a 3-2 record and taking home the gold medal in the Blessed Sacrament Division 3 ‘B’ finals in Hamilton over the weekend.
The Attack started the tourney with a defensive 22 – 14 win against the Belleville Spirits before moving on to face the Scarborough Blues, falling short 40 – 23 against one of the top teams in the ‘A’ pool.
The Attack completed pool play against Timmins with a close 24 – 21 loss, but gained some valuable confidence is this close game that would help in their finals re-match later on.
The Attack faced the Guelph CYO Knights in their ‘B’ semi-finals and won a nail biting 41 – 40 overtime game.
For the finals, the girls avenged an earlier pool play game loss against Timmins, beating the Selects 29-26 to take the gold medal.
Next up for the Attack U12 girls is a friendly tournament in Tillsonburg this weekend.
