The Oxford Attack Under 13 Bantam Boys competitive basketball team finished with a solid 2-2 record at a sanctioned OBA tournament in Guelph. The Attack opened versus the Orangeville Hawks #2 team and were in control the entire game en route to a 53-21 victory. Hudson Holman led the Attack offense with 12 points while Adam Bullen netted a career high with 10 points. Ethan Roberts had 5 assists in the balanced team win. The Attack next faced their Highway 403 nemesis Brantford Rep. The Attack played a solid half versus their strong rivals and were down only one point at the break, but eventually fell 45-29 in their best effort of their 3 games with Brantford this season thus far. Eight players registered points for the balanced Attack offense but the overall improved Attack play was punctuated by Holman?s season high 4 blocked shots and aggressive, tough, interior post play that carried over to his teammates. The Attacks third game was a spirited affair against a rejuvenated hometown Guelph Phoenix squad that extended the Attack 4-full quarters before the Attack finally sealed the game with 48-41 victory. Brandon Cowan erupted for 24 points, with Holman netting 8 points and Cubby Dempster contributing 5 points. The Attack came out flat in their final game of the tourney and lost convincingly to the Orangeville?s Hawks #1 team 57-34. The Hawks shot an uncharacteristically high field goal percentage during the game, but the Attack?s defense and offense were passive and could not match the Hawks overall team intensity and aggressiveness. Cowan had 12 points, with Holman and Adam Bullen continuing their solid tournament play netting 7 points each. The Oxford Attack player of the tournament was Hudson Holman for his improved aggressive defense and blocked shots as he anchored the Attack post position throughout the weekend. Next up for the Attack U13's is a tournament in Ancaster in two weeks.
