The Oxford Attack Under 13 Bantam Boys competitive basketball team finished with a solid 3-2 record for a 4th place finish out of nine teams at a sanctioned OBA tournament in Ancaster. The Attack opened versus the Cambridge Centaurs #2 team and broke the game open in the 2nd half en route to a comfortable 51 ? 30 victory. Brandon Cowan paced the Attack with 20 points while Callaghan Bullen netted 8 points. Liam Dempsey had 3 steals and Cubby Dempster had 3 assists. The Attack next faced a depleted Pelham Panthers squad and raced out to 55 ? 27 victory. Cowan had 24 points while Ethan Roberts contributed 10 points. Lucas Gagnon had 3 points, 1 steal and a great blocked shot. The Attack next played the eventual tournament silver medal winners Markam-Uniondale and were outmatched from the beginning and fell 61 ? 25. The Attack qualified for the bronze medal game by soundly defeating the Ancaster Magic #2 team 62 ? 25. All 10 Attack players made the score-sheet. The Attack next faced the Burlington SkyHawks for bronze a lost a hard fought game 46 ? 43. The Attack played great team defense to keep the SkyHawks lightning quick guards from penetrating to the basket. Quinten Quackenbush-Schneider and Hudson Holman anchored the Attack?s interior post ?help defense? while Dempsey and Dempster tried to contain the opposing guards. Cowan and Holman lead the Attack in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively. The Attack narrowly missed a game tying 3-point shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. The 'Oxford Attack' player of the tournament was Quinten Quackenbush-Schneider for his rugged style of play that the Attack needs more of when playing strong opposition. The Attack?s guard play was also outstanding all weekend as they collectively hit more three point shots than any other team in the tournament. Next up for the Attack is a friendly tournament in Woodstock at E?cole Secondaire Notre Dame on Sat. Mar. 23. The Attack play at 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 4:30 pm.
