Police have charged a Norwich Township man with arson after a house fire in Otterville.
OTTERVILLE - A 52 year old man from Norwich Township has been charged with Arson after a house fire in Otterville.
Police and Fire were called to the house on John Street on Wednesday May 4th. They were called by a passerby who noticed smoke coming from the roof. The Norwich Township Fire Department rushed to the scene to put out the blaze.
The homeowner was not home at the time, and no injuries were reported. The fire did cause somewhere between $30,000 and $40,000 in damage.
Police did find the fire to be suspicious and the Ontario Fire Marshall was brought in to investigate.
As a result of the investigation Daniel Martin was charged with Arson-Damage to Property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The investigation is continuing.
