The Oxford Community Foundation has $50,000 worth of grant funding available for food security initiatives.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for the Maple Leaf Community Fund.
There is $50,000 in funding available to support food security initiatives in Oxford County. This includes school nutrition programs, food literacy programs, community gardens, and other sustainable initiatives beyond the conventional food bank model.
All applications have to be submitted by April 2nd and you can find more information online here.
The fund is in honour of Harvey and Erma Beaty. Louise Wardrop, the Executive Director for the Oxford Community Foundation, says Harvey founded Cold Springs Farm in Thamesford back in 1949 before it became part of Maple Leaf Foods.
"We at Oxford Community Foundation fondly remember the farm and the Beatys. Harvey was known for his business acumen, his concern for the environment, and his tremendous generosity. He would be proud to know of the immense good grants from this fund established for his employees in 1994 continue to make in our community."
