A recent grant from the Oxford Community Foundation will benefit the Alzheimer Society's training facility.
It's one of 13 grants being handed out by the Oxford Community Foundation.
The Alzheimer Society of Oxford Executive Director, Shelley Green, accepted a cheque for $850 from Mary Anne Silverthorn, Chair of the Grants Committee.
In a release, the Alzheimer Society said the funds are being used to purchase a new flat screen TV for their training room. With the support of over 250 volunteers, contributing close to 5000 hours per year, many of volunteers require training to perform their much needed responsibilities in supporting individuals with Alzheimer's and their caregivers.
The Oxford Community Foundation will be rewarding a number of grants over the next couple of weeks.
Silverthorn says "We are very pleased to be able to provide funding for an essential part of the Alzheimer Society’s work. The Oxford Community Foundation believes in encouraging and providing trained volunteers to help deliver services and, through their contributions, build a stronger and caring community of Oxford."
