Unifor Local 636 will be hosting Woodstock's first all candidates meeting for the municipal election tonight.
WOODSTOCK - Municipal election season is in full swing in the Friendly City!
The first all candidates meeting will be taking place at Unifor Hall tonight Monday September 24th.
They have 12 confirmed candidates coming so far; including the two running for Mayor.
Melissa Holden, the Vice President of Unifor Local 636, says each candidate will be given the same amount of time to speak.
"They will be given a two minute opening to explain who they are and what their goals are. Each question they will be allowed one minute to answer their question. They will also have a two minute closing."
Holden gives us a few examples of possible questions.
"One of the questions that could be asked would be 'What public services do you feel should be the responsibility of the municipal government?' Or something like 'What is your position on economic development and the economic development fund?'"
They are hoping to have enough time to answer questions from the public. There will be a social period with refreshments afterwards.
The meeting will be open to the public and it's free to come watch. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and everything will get started about a half hour later.
