County council has approved funding for two multi residential housing units, one in Tillsonburg and the other in Woodstock.
Oxford County Council has approved over two million dollars in funding for two multi-residential housing units
Sixteen one bedroom units will be constructed on Concession Street in Tillsonburg; those properties will be managed by Community Living Tillsonburg. Meanwhile twenty-two bachelor units will be constructed on Blossom Park Road in Woodstock and they will be managed by Indwell.
Both of the housing units will be built to the Passive House Standard. Warden David Mayberry explains how this will benefit the residents.
"Making buildings more air-tight and then having better air exchange within the buildings actually improves the liveability of the buildings so it's good for everyone."
Mayberry adds these buildings will also help save tenants money on energy bills.
"They'll be energy efficient and the saving that the residents will then save in their energy bills will actually kind of reduce the overall cost of living in the whole building."
These two locations will be the first multi-residential units in Oxford built to the Passive House Standard.
