A Tentative Agreement in the CAMI Strike

Unifor Local 88 President Dan Borthwick says a tentative agreement has been reached, but details will not be released until a ratification meeting takes place on Monday.

INGERSOLL - An end to the CAMI strike is in sight.

Members of Unifor Local 88 have reached a tentative agreement with General Motors. 

Although the details behind the deal are being kept wraps until a ratification meeting on Monday, Plant Chair Mike VanBoekel says the union did achieve their main goal.

"Job security was addressed and I do believe our plant is in a good place for a long long time."

In a press release on the union's website, President Dan Borthwick adds picketers are still being asked to attend their scheduled assignments until the accord is ratified.

Unifor National Representatives and the Master Bargaining Committee would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the strike.

VanBoekel is glad to see the strike come to an end.

"It was a long haul, it was a very very tough run on negotiations but it's good to be done."
