The Woodstock Public Library will bring spectacular superheroes and dastardly villains to life during a special event.
WOODSTOCK - Calling all superheroes and villains!
The Woodstock Public Library is ready to host a Superhero Comic Con on Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Child and Youth Librarian Heather Mathers encourages kids to participate in a fun costume contest.
"We do ask that anyone who's interested can come dressed up as their favourite superhero or villain and we will be drawing for some prizes through that, and we're going to have a little costume parade through the library."
Woodstock Spiderman is expected to swing by with Batman at 2 p.m. to take green screen photos with the kids. Those who attend will also be able to participate in superhero themed crafts and a Mario Kart Tournament at 3:30 p.m.
Mathers explains why the library decided to host this free event.
"Our superhero books are always vastly popular. We ran a smaller Superhero Comic Con over the March Break and we had a lot of interest. The kids really enjoyed it so we decided, 'Let's try it again!' Make it a little bigger, have some of our local superheroes come and participate with us, and we thought it would be really fun for the kids."
The event is geared towards preschool children and kids up to age 12. This is a drop in event.
