A Solidarity March for Striking Workers

It was a sea of red and white as a solidarity march gathered on the south lawn of the Ingersoll Cami Plant.

INGERSOLL - There was an impressive turn out at the solidarity march outside the Ingersoll Cami Assembly Plant.

It was a sea of red and white as a as Cami employees and supporters gathered on the south lawn, with Plant Chair Mike VanBoekel leading the way.

VanBoekel is waiting for GM to give Cami preferred status when it comes to producing the Chevy Equinox.

"We need that letter to make sure our jobs are going to stay here for at least the life of the contract or longer."

The plant recently suffered the loss of 400 employees, after production of the GMC Terrain moved to Mexico this past July. 

VanBoekel explains the message behind today's rally.

"To try and raise morale, keep support going and to thank our community and our members and ask them to stay strong because we're not done yet."

VanBoekel was one of the guest speakers at the rally. Unifor President Jerry Dias also took the stage this afternoon.
