A 4th candidate has filed for council in Blandford Blenheim.
PRINCETON - The council race in Blandford Blenheim is heating up.
22 year Princeton resident Betty Cowan is the 4th person to file papers for the position.
"In the past I have been on different committees just in our village here in Princeton. The Catholic School, the park, we are doing a park expansion, I've been on that committee and I've helped out with minor ball. My husband has been President for the past six or so years, just doing different volunteer work. I feel that there is still things I can do for the community, for Blandford Blenheim."
Cowan says she's fiscally responsible.
"We've been a single family income home for pretty much the 20 years since my first child was born and we are able to live fairly comfortably off our one income. I feel that with that I should be able to take that and help out with the community too, just to decide that sometimes things just can't happen right away if you don't have the money."
Cowan says the biggest issue for her facing the municipality over the next four years is the rising cost of services.
"Just trying to keep everything in line, the budget and unfortunately you have to sometimes do more with less and hopefully that's what can be done."
Cowan says this would be a great way to give back to the community. She also says she's running to help all the residents of Blandford-Blenheim and is interested in meeting them and seeing what issues are important to them, as well as work to help them achieve their goals, if its at all feasible.
