The Sakura House Hospice was happy to accept a big cheque from Tim Horton's from their Smile Cookie Campaign.
WOODSTOCK - After another successful Smile Cookie campaign in Woodstock, Tim Horton's was happy to present the Sakura House Hospice with a cheque worth $30,100.
The money was raised at all 6 Tim's locations in the Friendly City. Owner of the West End Tim Horton's Jason Paquette tells Heart FM it was another really successful Smile Cookie campaign this year.
"Smile campaign always goes great, every time we put the smile cookies out, people go crazy and start buying them up and we can't keep up."
Tim's has been donating the funds from the Smile Campaign for the past 6 years. Fund Development Coordinator Kyra McNamara tells Heart FM what they will use the money for.
"All of this money goes toward our annual operating fund, so we do get some funding from the government and that will go toward our front line nursing staff care, the rest of the money we have to fundraise for so $500,000 must be fundraised every year so we can provide the type of care that we do to our patients."
McNamara notes they are thrilled with the $30,000 donation from Tim Horton's, and that they appreciate every donation.
"You know what, believe it or not this donation means the same to us as the $10 to $20 donations that come in all year, it means that people in our community are caring about the end of life hospice support we are providing at no charge to our patients and they are willing to do whatever they can to help, whether that's a little or a lot."
