Oxford OPP are just starting to get a handle on all the crashes. A snowstorm that blew into the County at around 9:30 this morning led to 22 separate crashes on the 401 between Woodstock and Ingersoll. The worst area was centered on the 401 between County Road 6 and Highway 19. The highway was closed for a couple of hours, but is now re-open. Constable Michelle Murphy says the good news is that amongst all of those crashes, only minor injuries were reported. She also reminds drivers to slow down if they're approaching emergency crews working on the highway. The crashes we had in Oxford County pale in comparison to what happened on the 402 near Sarnia today. A pile-up of an estimated 25 vehicles led to the deaths of two people, in two separate crashes. The provincial Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate. One of the crashes reportedly demolished a police cruiser. Fire trucks and an ambulance were also hit. The 402 remains closed between Nauvoo and Oil Heritage Roads between Watford and Wyoming.
